Mark introduces you to the concepts behind getting advanced with your location flash photography. Guiding you through the key techniques that can be used to bring more impact and creativity to your location images. Mark explains the key techniques he uses to take control over his light when shooting on location. The first things to consider when getting more advanced with flash is how many lights you are going to use and how you are going to control and shape those lights. Introducing more lights allows you to place and create the light exactly where you want it and then by using different modifiers to control those lights you can refine and shape the flash to create the exact look and feel you want in your images. The next technique is using gels to colour the lights or to change the colour of the ambient light using your white balance. Then finally the last key technique is Hi-Sync, which allows you to use flash above the usual 1/200th sec limit, meaning you can darken backgrounds dramatically, whatever the lighting conditions, bringing real impact to your images.
