The Power of Misspelling Your Name | Jessica Lozano-Schmitt | TEDxPuntaCanaWomen

Описание к видео The Power of Misspelling Your Name | Jessica Lozano-Schmitt | TEDxPuntaCanaWomen

Since Jessica was young, she always knew she had this "thing" that made her different. She uses this talk to share her personal journey of discovery, that there was an official name for it and that it is the world's most common learning disability: DYSLEXIA.

With this talk, Jessica hopes to encourage others, whether it be dyslexia or any other obstacle, to embrace it and not let a single label or diagnosis define you. As maybe one day, your "thing" could become your greatest strength! Jessica is a 19-year-old German-Spanish Social Entrepreneur, NGO Founding Member, and business student at the time of this recording. She was raised in the hospitality industry, which led to her having lived in four continents, eleven countries, speaking four languages fluently, and understanding seven.

After graduating from her joint Bachelor in Business Administration with in Finance and Master in Business Analytics Program, she hopes to become a successful businesswoman in the areas of Consulting and Venture Capital. Additionally, she is actively working on reducing the gender gap within STEM through her work with MakerGirl Foundation. There she is the volunteering Director of the Harvard & MIT MakerGirl Academy, where they host 3D Printing workshops for young girls (ages 7-12) aiming to spark their interest in STEM.
