What does it mean to be a wildlife photographer

"Fight bird fight!”, he exclaims, holding his Canon close to the eye, trying to get a shot when the Chinese pond herons are fighting for a place on a branch. The bird pond at Kowloon Park is teeming with flamingos and local birds, Robert Ferguson wanders around even in the rain to catch a glimpse of them.

The pond heron is a familiar face, and a juvenile one piques his interest. He brings his camera over the green barriers, stretching out his huge gear into the scene when I prop up his handheld flash. To capture the perfect moment requires the best lighting but also patience, which he once had none.
