How to create a beautiful patio pond in just a few simple steps.

Mainly you need a really sturdy pot. We chose to go for a thick plastic pot to try and make it a little bit more resistant to the elements but we've seen beautiful Patio Pots made in ceramic pots.
The pot we used is from TeraPlast (https://www.teraplast.com/en/) they're made from 100% recycled plastic, we thought this would be a brilliant way to use plastic in a more sustainable way.

Next we used some rocks as a base to allow for growth, the washing really is the most important step. In the end we opened the bag and washed them a handful at a time due to there being some type of grey grime that we simply couldn't wash away easily.

The plants were purchased from a garden centre, mainly water lettuce and a lily. Although in March when we set this up, it might be a little too early for them!

The filter is a little bit over the top, it can do 1000 L, its a pump-filter-UV combined. Our next aim is to add more rocks and perhaps more wood, and then more plants. Our goal is to eventually put some small fish in so we want to make sure waste management is done to a high standard.
