Indian Railways, the lifeline of a nation, carries millions every day — yet the condition of in-coach restrooms tells a lesser-known story of discomfort, neglect, and missed opportunities for dignity.
Join me, Viraj Gapchoop, an aspiring industrial designer from SCAD Savannah, as I journey across 5000+ kilometers, listening to passengers and uncovering the urgent need for thoughtful restroom design.

Through this research, I explore the intersection of empathy, hygiene, functionality, and civic pride — and why public space design matters deeply to our everyday lives.
