You can choose a shorter excursion or a longer one that includes camping at one of the five designated spots along the river. If you choose to float the entire 15-mile stretch, you’ll put-in at the base of the Glen Canyon dam. The river meanders at a leisurely speed of approximately 3 miles per hour, typically requiring 6 to 7 hours to traverse the full stretch. Please account for an hour long backhaul ride up river at the start, as well as any stops you make along the journey. If you prefer a shorter excursion, the boat captain can drop you off at any desired location along the route. Surrounded by stunning scenery, you'll experience a peaceful ride down the river, with no rapids to worry about. While you may face some headwinds at times, you'll be kayaking with the current the entire way.

These excursions occur at Lees Ferry, located in Marble Canyon within the Glen Canyon National Park. This area shares the same Colorado River and canyon walls as the adjacent Grand Canyon National Park, with only an imaginary boundary separating the two parks. As you drive into the area to begin this remarkable adventure, you’ll pass the overnight camping parking lot which is designated for multi-day adventures. If kayaking for just the day, continue on Lees Ferry Road, past the bathrooms, to the dirt parking lot. For day-trips, this lot is where you will be parking. Grab your things and make your way to the boat dock, which is directly below this parking lot, to meet your boat captain. Your rented vessel will be already pre-loaded on the boat upon your arrival. In addition, life vests and paddles are also included in your rental. Your journey kicks off with the backhaul service, an exhilarating boat ride up-river, where you'll have plenty of time to soak in the stunning natural beauty of the Glen Canyon. Once you reach your desired drop-off point, it's time to jump into your kayaks and embark on a float down the Colorado River.

During your journey, there are numerous sights and activities to explore, such as the refreshing watering holes at Shower Spring or Honey Draw, located just below mile 14.
