Demolition of old Trump casino in Atlantic City up for auction

The chips won’t be the only thing falling. Atlantic City is auctioning off the right to blow up one of President Trump’s former casinos in the city. Trump Plaza closed its doors in 2014 and has been in disrepair for years, with large pieces of the building falling off earlier this year, the Associated Press reported. Atlantic City will be donating the proceeds of the auction to the local Boys & Girls Club, according to the AP. Bidding will last from Thursday until Jan. 19. Whoever wins will get to push the button to start demolition from anywhere in the world. “Local buyers can push the button as close as safely possible,” the listing says. Trump once owned three casinos in Atlantic City but now owns zero. Trump Marina was sold in 2011 and Trump Taj Mahal closed in 2016. “Some of Atlantic City’s iconic moments happened [at Trump Plaza], but on his way out, Donald Trump openly mocked Atlantic City, saying he made a lot of money and then got out,” Mayor Marty Small told the AP. “I wanted to use the demolition of this place to raise money for charity.” Recommended on Daily News
