One of the earliest pieces I've learned by ear on the guitar from listening to my father's oido rendition. It was in the 1990s before I heard the version of Juan Silos Jr and that inspired me to arrange guitar music based only on audio cassette recordings.
Although I never played it correctly before in solo guitar, I can say it's not bad at all.
July 28, 2012 when I wrote this arrangement on tablature and I used Juan Silos Jr.'s audio, (compliments of my friend - Mario Mendoza). Athough there are some more better and professionally arranged music of this title, I never had any interest on those transcriptions. It's interesting for me to use my own simple arrangement based on the version of Juan Silos Jr. Many guitarists of today just ignore the works of this great Kundiman Guitar master...but not me. hehhe

It was in 1994 when some friends introduced me to Dr. Moises Medina, a virtuoso violinist of Imus, Cavite. He was a best friend of Ramon Revilla Sr. and he arranged music for almost all the great movies of Revilla like "Pepeng Agimat", "Nardong Putik", and many more. My first jamming with Doc Medina was a great experience for me coz it's my first time to accompany a high-caliber violinist. There was no music sheets during our sessions, he just played anything he likes and I just learned to adapt instantly. Little mistakes are unavoidable due to my lack of experience...and the old man never smiled during the session. When we took a short break, I was surprised to hear him saying ... "Of all the many guitarists who accompanied me, you are the best"....that's exactly what he said on our first historic session. hehehe
We made a lot of public performances together in 1994-1995 specially in different schools around Cavite. I can never forget this Hating-Gabi when we performed it on stage at noontime under the sun, just after we played he said to me that it was not just a Hating-Gabi but "Hating-Gabi sa Katanghaliang-Tapat".
I left Imus when I got married and when I returned back after 3 years, ..Doc's already gone...and it was only from my mother that I heard that Doc. Medina passed away some years ago while I was away from home.
