To anyone who has suffered from the terrible cycle of drug-addiction, I want you to know that there is a secret ladder that can lead you out of that deep, dark, hellish hole. We just need to have the willingness to climb it and see the light of day again. Since an adolescent, life dealt me a deck of cards that I wasn't given the tools to handle - from mental-illness, to having a broken home, being exposed to frightening violence, traumatic events that no child should have to experience, and losing my Mother at such a young age. I know what it's like to find happiness in things that only destroy you in the long-run.

But, I've learned that the satisfaction substances bring a person does not heal the inner-turmoil, and the euphoria is short-lived. I don't have all of the answers, and I have fallen & failed many times - but I have climbed that secret ladder and realized: the happiness that sticks around only if you keep its chains & shackles on, is nowhere near as great as the happiness that asks nothing of you and is present whenever you decide to open yourself up and welcome it in.

All it takes is a choice. And together, we can Stitch those wounds, break out of that hollow shell we've been in for so long, and become the Butterflies we've always dreamed of becoming... 🦋
