Looking for some fun on Mackinac Island? Horse carriage rides and the Grand Hotel topped our list. After a ride around the island, you must stop for Mackinac fudge on Main Street.

We visited in June RIGHT BEFORE the Mackinac Island Lilac Festival. Horrible timing, but the lilacs were already in full bloom. The blooming lilacs are great (necessary) for covering the smell of all the horses on the island.

If you are going to stay overnight on the island, you’ll pay a pretty penny. There’s no AirBnB, so you’ll have to stay in a hotel. The hotels are very pretty so you can’t complain.
