Wow! The world added another 2.6 million millionaire households last year in 2013 to end up with a total 16.1 million "Millionaire" households around the world. This is a 19% increase in total millionaires. (These numbers were from the Boston Consulting Group's Global Wealth report).

This large increase in total millionaires now means that millionaire households represent 1.1% of all households globally.

The United States added the most millionaires over the last year with a gain of 1.1 million households. That brings the total number of US households with $1million+ of net worth to 7.13 million households.

Even more impressive is that the United States has the most centimillionaires ($100 million or more of net worth) with 4,754 total households.

Finally, according to the report, the biggest driver of this wealth explosion was due to stocks. Go figure!
