In this guided breathing exercise, we practice slowing and holding our breath. Slowing and holding your breath are powerful practices. Bringing conscious attention to an autonomic activity enables better control of your physical, mental and emotional states. Furthermore it can lead to better lung function and a longer life!

Trapezoid breathing is very similar to the popular box breathing technique, where we add holds between our inhales and exhales. The added twist of trapezoid breathing, is that we extend one portion of our breath cycle. In this case we will be extending our full lung breath holds. This guided breathing exercise can be very useful in reducing stress and anxiety, as well as training your breath holding abilities.
