When extreme heat or storms hit, some families face more than discomfort. For families in Trinity Houston Gardens, emergencies have led to power outages, spoiled groceries and medicine.

With no local grocery store, food pantries are a lifeline, and so are the people who keep them running, like Ana. "If you know what people need, you can offer help," she shared.

With support from the Resilience 4 Communities program, Target Hunger has expanded food pantry services, and community health workers are helping families access healthcare and resources they need. With a new source of backup power Target Hunger's Campus and Education Center will serve as a safe place for food, resources and shelter—before, during and after extreme weather events.
