5 Reason of ACL Graft Tear : Revision ACL Surgery ! Why ACL Graft Re-tears?

Due to increasing knowledge about ACL surgery, it has become imperative to empower the patients suffering from ACL tear with complete knowledge. With many new modalities and techniques cropping up, we find our patients confused with making a choice.
This video focuses on Failure of primary ACL surgery, its reasons and how can one prevent them. There are certain modifiable and non modifiable factors which govern the success of any surgical procedure. These factors may be related to the patient, the surgeon and the misc reasons.
Most commonly ACL tear recurs due to re injury to the ligament in a pivoting sport, collision or contact sports. Some patients do have a history of trivial injury or no injury at all also. There are various reasons for same.

Rehabilitation is an important source of mistakes that arise and may become a contributing factor in revision surgeries. Overzealous rehabilitation and early return to sports despite warning is a common cause of ACL failure.
Incorrect tunnel placements and graft morphology (thin/thick grafts) may also be a contributing cause of ACL failure.
