The Taipei City Government today held a New Year’s Day flag-raising event at Dajia Riverside Park, where the popularity of Taipei Mayor Ko Wen-je was evident. PFP presidential candidate James Soong, his running mate Hsu Hsin-ying, as well as the DPP and KMT vice presidential candidates Chen Chien-jen and Jennifer Wang, all attended. Together they sang the national anthem. At Taipei City’s New Year’s Day flag-raising event, Ko flanked by Soong and the three vice presidential candidates led the group to sing the national anthem. James Soong PFP Presidential Candidate Mayor Ko invited us to come today, so I chose to come. Don’t forget that I am also a chief consultant to the Taipei City Government. After the flag was raised, Soong stayed on to listen to the morning concert and even gave an impromptu rap performance. With opinion polls showing that Soong is very close to his KMT rival Eric Chu, Soong may be hoping to get Ko’s blessing and win over even more supporters.
