"If you build it, they will come." In "Field of Dreams, it referred to a baseball field. But to native plant gardeners it suggests that if you build a native plant garden the native wildlife -- butterflies, bugs, birds, plus other insects & animals -- will visit or make their home in your garden. That's one of the great satisfactions of a native plant garden.

This vid has two parts: 1st, how we created a native plant garden three years ago and how it has matured; and 2nd, all the animal & insect life we've seen around our place, which is in Fullerton in the suburbs of Orange County, CA. Enjoy the beautiful pix and vids!!

Native plants seen include: agave, barrel cactus, blue-eyed grass, California coast sunflower, California poppies, Cleveland sage, desert globemallow, globe gilia, gum plant, Marina strawberry tree, milkweed, Santa Cruz Island buckwheat, and Sundrops.

Animals & insects shown: alligator lizard, birds, bumblebee, California king snake, cloudless sulphur butterfly, carpenter bee, giant swallowtail, great egret, great horned owl, gray hairstreak, honeybee, hummingbird, lady bug, marine blue butterfly, monarch butterfly, mournful duskywing, mourning cloak, mourning dove, native bees, painted lady, praying mantis, red-tailed hawks, scrub jay, squirrel, wasp, western fence lizard.
