English of the Dead (DS) Playthrough - NintendoComplete

Описание к видео English of the Dead (DS) Playthrough - NintendoComplete

A playthrough of Sega's 2008 English-tutor game for the Nintendo DS, English of the Dead.

The original title was ゾンビ式 英語力蘇生術 ENGLISH OF THE DEAD, or "The Zombie English Learning Resurrection Technique: English of the Dead," as it was named in its Japanese-only release.

English of the Dead is yet another spin-off of Sega's insanely popular 1998 arcade light-gun shooter The House of the Dead 2. This time, though, instead of typing on your Dreamcast or PC, you're learning English words, phrases, and how to write in the Roman alphabet! The game has been cut down a bit for the format, but it's still unmistakably HotD2 at its core!

The normal flow of play throws words up on the screen and you have to handwrite them. The game does character recognition on your handwriting, and it makes sure that you write each character correctly before it'll let you move on (by killing the zombie). The higher difficulty words only provide you with Japanese and a number of blank spaces for you to translate.

The bonus games and boss fights have you writing themed sets of words, answering questions asked in both Japanese and English by picking from words to create phrases, and occasionally writing in full sentences. It's totally odd, and weirdly magical in the way that only Sega can make a game.

It's also quite useful if you have a decent hold of Japanese and want to further it by quizzing yourself. Way back I did learn a fair amount of vocabulary from this one!

I didn't do any translations for this one, because all of the game's dialogue is spoken in English, so it seemed a bit senseless.

I hope you enjoy this oddity - I had a blast with it.
