Introducing The Baby Chickens To The Big Girls

Описание к видео Introducing The Baby Chickens To The Big Girls

The little Fluff Nuggets are 8 weeks old. Old enough to be outside, but not quite big enough to roam around safely with the big girls. This is just a video of them learning how to interact with each other. I share what is currently going on, so I'm sure there will be many more glimpses of us trying to integrate the crew.

I personally like to do a slow introduction. So as soon as the little fluff nuggets are old enough, I move them in with the older chickens. The baby chicks have a separate area inside the run where they spend most of their time. It allows the older chickens to get use to them, but the baby are safe within their separate area. After a few daysI start letting the littles out every now and again to mingle with the crew. The first few times I just let a few bigs in at a time. Once they start playing a bit nicer, I allow all the chickens to roam together. (FYI the first few times is a bit scary) Chickens can be ALL KINDS OF MEAN to new friends, so I never leave them alone to roam freely together.
