In commemoration of the 100th Anniversary of Masses Publishing Co. v. Patten (1917), the Second Circuit Court of Appeals,
in association with The First Amendment Salons, the Floyd Abrams Institute for Freedom of Expression at Yale Law School, and the Committee on Media Law of the New York State Bar Association hosted a “reargument” of the appeal in the case before a panel comprised of Judges Denny Chin, Pierre N. Leval, and Robert D. Sack.

Kathleen M. Sullivan appeared for Masses Publishing Co. and Floyd Abrams appeared for Postmaster Patten.

The reargument occurred on Monday, November 6, 2017 in Thurgood Marshall United States Courthouse at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
