December camping in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest doesn’t get much better than this. We set up camp in freezing, 30-degree temps surrounded by four iconic Pacific Northwest volcanoes—and the views were absolutely worth the cold.

With frost on the ground and winter fully settled in, we spent the day soaking in the quiet, dialing in camp, and sending the drone up for some unreal aerial views of this volcanic landscape. Snow-dusted peaks, endless forest, and total solitude made this one of those camps that reminds you why winter adventures hit different.

Cold nights, clear skies, and epic scenery—this was PNW winter camping at its finest.
