100lb Alibow Warbow H1O Review

This is a review of the 100lb@28 Alibow H1O Heavy Draw Version. The bow is a budget fiberglass reproduction of the Magyar bows known in medieval Hungary, with horn side plate tips. This is not a replica, nor an accurate reproduction. For a proper traditional Hungarian bow of the 9-11th century as defined by the Hungarian National Archery Federation (HUNAF), many parameters should be met, for the grip, limb, and horn. For example, when forming the ear plates, the typical shapes should be applied: headed, headless broken end, and, headless. The formal shaping of the Hungarian Bow’s ear is almost the 'trademark' of the bow. The slim, minimal weighted ear stiffener plates are containing such typical and formal elements - aside from the few exceptions - are typical for the Hungarian bows only. In the 1920s, we found archeological evidence of Magyar bows, where archeologists found long and narrow bone plates. Sebestyen Karoly realized it was to reinforce the grip and siyahs or horns (szarv) of the bow. It was found that the Hungarian bow was an Asian reflex bow. Sebestyen decided that the unstrung bow's limbs must have been straight between the horn and the grip. He found that the best material for the core of the bow was maple. He used deer sinews for the backing, horn of Hungarian gray cattle for the belly, and deer antler for the bone plates. Most of his results supported the reconstruction of Sebestyen.
