Back in 2018 I co-presented a radio show on a local FM station (Wycombe Sound) with a friend of mine, ex-BBC producer Andy Aliffe. It was called 'The Emperor's Bits' and was all about quirky local history. For our second season we travelled the rail network between High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, and London Marylebone. There are twelve stops along the route and we got off at each station and explored the environs - one stop per episode. We found ourselves exploring the National Film and Theatre School (yes, I know I said 'British' in the video), the gigantic Suez waste management centre at South Ruislip, Bekonscot model village (the world's oldest), the Sherlock Holmes Museum in Baker Street, Denham Studios, and many other important historical sites. We found houses where the Beatles lived, where Jimi Hendrix painted his walls black and where the first ever game of English cricket was played. It was a fascinating journey and great fun to make.

To promote this second season on social media we made a silly short film using vintage props and railway machinery. Here is that film, along with some behind the scenes footage recorded at the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre in Quainton. Tremendous fun but surprisingly hard work!
