We couldn't figure out what Mouse, one of our farm cats, was so curious about in our recycling center until we opened this old carboard box and found a Wren nest made inside. Unfortunately we couldn't keep Mouse away so Momma Wren decided to move her nest to better safety. We were able to see more of the nesting material afterwards though. The common hay and leaves were nicely shaped together, but what surprised us the most was the amount of dog hair this female Wren had gathered up for use. Glad to see we're able to provide back to the land even with simple nesting material.

Side note: If you find a bird nest, put everything back as it was as best you can and leave it alone. Birds don't typically have a good sense of smell so your scent shouldn't drive her away, but she will probably be watching though. Any disturbances would cause her to move her babies to a new nest soon. We understand your curiosity and even desire to help, we're no different. That's why we're sharing our findings and experiences to show nature's process.
