You’ve asked, and I’ve finally produced some what of an update to my initial CMR-301 video. The gist is that I think the newly manufactured units should be reliable. If you want a cheap laser/light combo with a pressure switch, then this isn’t a bad choice.

It would be difficult to say whether the Streamlight RM1/2 laser/light combo is better or not. It depends on the application and what you attach them onto. The streamlight series are taller than the CMR-301, but are a lot more slim.
