Spider Crabs are constantly eating. During the summer months and right up to the time of Moulting in May or June they can be found in weed beds in the shallow waters of Port Phillip Bay. There massive numbers must assist in keeping the bay weed growth under control.. Normally they only stay in the one place for a few days and must keep moving as their food will run out.
