The Last Execution At The Tower Of London - Nazi Spy Josef Jakobs

Probably England's most notorious and famous castle or prison has to be the Tower of London. It's been the scene of barbaric torture over history, and remains the site of the beheadings and execution of some of England's most famous figures such as Anne Boleyn. I'm sure you're well aware of the brutal executions that took place here during the Tudor period, however even 400 years after the reign of Henry VIII and during the Second World War, it was the scene of an execution.

Infact the final person to be executed at the Tower of London would be a Nazi spy named Josef Jakobs. He had an extremely interesting story and today we explore it. Considered by the Abwehr (German Secret Service) to be a rather decent spy, Jakobs would parachute into England landing in a potato field terribly and breaking his legs. This would then lead to a rather high profile capture by the Home Guard. In this video we look at the remarkable story of the Nazi Spy who would go down in history as the final man to be executed at the Tower of London.
