Driving in Norway: E16 from Flåm to Aurland [Aurlandsfjellet, Stegastein Viewpoint]

In this video you can ride along on E16 from Flåm to Aurland on a rainy day in Norway. Starting in the center of Flåm near the railway station, famous for the glacier express, we drive a bit on the E16 before taking the local road to Aurland.

Aurlandsvangen is at the foot of the Aurlandsfjellet, a famous Norwegian mountain pass and until the opening of the nearby Lærdalstunnelen at the beginning of this century the only way to get from Aurlandsvangen to Lærdal. Meanwhile it's much quicker and easier to cross the mountain range, although it includes driving through the currently longest road tunnel in the world at almost 25 kilometers length.

Instead I drive up on Aurlandsfjellet and stop at the Stegastein viewpoint. This is a nicely designed viewing point that extends from a mountainside with breathtaking views across the nearby fjords. Unfortunately I didn't see much because of the rain but it was worth visiting nonetheless. I will feature Aurlandsfjellet and Lærdalstunnelen in future videos on the channel, stay tuned!
