There's something about the act of Catcalling that makes my blood boil. I know now that it has nothing to do with me or how I present myself but at the time of writing this song - after a particularly troublesome incident - I couldn't help but think, what is it about me that continuously attracts this kind of attention? Do I have “F**K ME” stamped on my forehead?!

This song is an open letter to anyone who has ever catcalled me, or anyone else for that matter.

What I wish they understood was that not only is it inappropriate and unwanted attention, it's severely damaging - terrifying even. My mind and body are immediately transported into survival mode, my heart races, my skin feels like it's on fire, I can't breathe - I can't tell you how many times a catcall has resulted in a panic attack.

Imagine you were walking down the street and all of a sudden there was a grizzly bear on the sidewalk, growling at you from 6 feet away. Imagine what would happen to your body. That's what happens to me, a sexual assault survivor, whenever I get catcalled.

Now think about how many women have experienced sexual violence, assault, and harassment.
