MCX BULLDEX

The MCX iCOMDEX Bullion Index, known as BULLDEX, is a bullion index offered by the Multi Commodity Exchange of India (MCX). Its composition is a weighted average of gold and silver futures contracts.

The composition is as follows:
Gold (1 kg): 60%
Silver (30 kg): 40%

This index is a financial instrument that allows investors to trade in the bullion market without having to engage with the individual gold and silver markets.

Examining contract basics

The instrument is OPTIDX with symbol MCXBULLDEX, based on the MCX iCOMDEX Bullion Index, offering European call and put options. Contracts follow a three-month trading cycle, including near, mid, and far months, with new ones introduced after the nearest expires.

Trading happens Mondays through Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30/11:55 p.m., adjusted for US daylight saving time. Determining expiry rules Monthly options expire one business day before the rollover period starts in the underlying index constituents.

If no rollover occurs in a month, contracts expire on the last Wednesday, or the prior trading day if that's a holiday.

Bullion contracts expire monthly, so rollover happens every month for the index.
