How to install a head to your pressure washer pump

Today, we're going to demonstrate how to replace the head on a PWV style pump. The tools you will need for this are a 6mm allen wrench and something to extend the length with so you can break the locktite free and secure the head bolts. The first step is to lay the pressure washer down with the spark plugs pointed upwards so that oil and gas will not leak into the cylinder or carburetor. Next, you will want to break the bolts free securing the head to the body. I'd recommend using the extension mentioned earlier to save your hands some potential pain. Once the bolts are broken free they should come out easily. Now, it's time to remove the head. Wiggle it back and forth while pulling it away from the body. Make sure that the water seals come off with the head and that the washers stay on the pump body. And now to install the head. Slide the head onto the pistons and make sure that the seals at the bottom of the head are secure and don't pinched when you bolt it to the body. Install the bolts and tighten them down snugly. I wouldn't recommend using the extension for snugging the bolts. That was only used to break the bolts free from the Locktite. Once the bolts are secure, you're all done.
