In this video we return to the Sandstones Estate Railway to photograph narrow gauge NGG16 Garratt No.153 along the route between Hoekfontein and Vailima as the sun sets on the beautiful mountains surrounding the estate. The Garratt is worked hard as it lifts its freight train up gradients more typical of a Swiss rack and pinion line.

Hot embers are thrown from the locomotive chimney, setting the dry grasslands ablaze keeping the fire crews following our train busy.

Our train is posed in a variety of scenarios intended to recreate scenes from the 1950's through to the late 90's when narrow gauge steam was still active on lines such as the Alfred County Railway.

We return the following morning to photograph the train as the sun rises over the breath taking scenery and as a special bonus on our last day we were treated to the spectacle of Class 25NC 4-8-4 No.3437 "Sianni" on the nearby mothballed 3ft 6in gauge line to Bethlehem.
