La Kagu is a, for Tokyo, rather unique renovation project. Kengo Kuma took an old warehouse and kept it's industrial character and placed a larger stair in front of it. This staircase is almost a geographical feature that takes the shoppers to the entrance or even to the second floor.
I personally think we need more renovation projects in Tokyo!
