In 1806, Claudius Buchanan arrived in southern India on a missionary expedition. Surprisingly, he found that the Jews in Cochin had the entire New Testament in Hebrew, compiled from various earlier sources.

Some of the Biblical books were simply translated from Syriac etc., while other books were genuinely copied from earlier authentic Hebrew manuscripts!
