On his way home, a merchant (André Dussollier) is caught in a rare snowstorm, and in the middle of the darkness, the merchant mistakenly arrives at a luxurious and mysterious castle. The merchant is treated like an honored guest, but until the end of the day, the merchant still has no idea who owns the castle. When the storm stops, the merchant prepares to leave, and before he leaves, he decides to pick a rose in the garden for his favorite little daughter, Belle (Léa Seydoux), but what he doesn't expect is for the hideous-looking Beast (Vincent Cassel) to appear in front of him to claim his life.
The merchant returns home disoriented and tells his six children what happened to him. Belle, who loves her father, decides to take his place and arrives at the castle alone.
