Recently the Chinese government has approved the construction of the world's largest dam at the Great Bend on the river Yarlung Tsangpo. The plan poses a great threat to India and Bangladesh as the Yarlung Tsangpo is the same river named as Brahmaputra river once it enters Assam.

The location of the proposed dam is ecologically fragile and prone to landslides and earthquake. The plan also has risk of flash floods in North Earth India and Bangladesh.
