DARSHAN - Gaze of Grace

Is a documentary film that aspires to bring to life the cascade of grace through Bhagavan Ramana Maharshi's mute flow of language, especially His gaze, using the medium of stories, poetry and songs. Without delving into Bhagavan's spoken words or teachings, the film offers a peek into the potency of this silent alchemy - reminiscent of the great Dakshinamurthy.

Through a diversity of voices we try to unravel the 'Jnana' bestowing power of His Darshan. This is interspersed with songs set to the poetry of Muruganar, a prolific poet devotee of Bhagavan, whose vivid account on how he attained the full experience of the Self through Bhagavan's Jnana Drishti, (His liberating gaze) comprises one of the highlights of the film.

Gaze of Grace recounts a few notable incidents pertaining to the silent aspect of Bhagavan's grace, which occurred until the mid 1930s as also to the present times. The film carries the subtext of the gaze of Arunachala, the sacred mountain which Bhagavan refers to as the heart of the world. Alongside it celebrates 100 years since Bhagavan came down the hill and the forming of Ramanasramam, Tiruvannamalai (1923) as well as 100 years since Bhagavan inspired Muruganar's poetic deluge.

All the songs in the film have been composed from Muruganar's poetry to Bhagavan and have been especially composed and sung for the film.

Om Namo Bhagavate Sri Arunachala Ramanaya!
