Surah Al-Waqiah (Waqi’ah) is the 56th chapter of the Holy Qur’an, revealed in Makkah, and it speaks about the Inevitable Day of Resurrection. The word “Al-Waqi’ah” means The Event that will surely come to pass — a Day from which no soul can escape. The Surah reminds mankind about the certainty of the Hereafter, the accountability before Allah, and the reality of reward and punishment. It divides people into three groups on the Day of Judgment: the righteous believers (People of the Right), the sinful disbelievers (People of the Left), and the closest servants of Allah (the Foremost), who will enjoy the highest ranks in Paradise
This Surah highlights the greatness of Allah’s creation, His power in giving life and death, and His control over sustenance (rizq). It reminds us that human wealth and status will have no value on the Final Day — only faith, gratitude, and righteous action will benefit a person. Surah Al-Waqi’ah also inspires believers with the hope of Jannah and warns against heedlessness of the Hereafter.
