BLAIR COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — A dog named Conrail, found seriously injured along train tracks in Altoona in November, has been given a second chance at life.

The Central PA Humane Society shared Conrail's story online, revealing he had severe ear injuries and was believed to have been hit by a train.

The post garnered widespread support, with donations pouring in for his medical care.

Emmalee and her husband Jeremiah say they first learned about Conrail through the humane society's Facebook posts.

When they saw Conrail was available for adoption, they knew he was the one, especially after seeing how he interacted with their 6-month-old baby, Josephine.

"He loved as soon as Josephine started making noise. He would walk over to her," Emmalee shared.

After three weeks at home, Conrail has a new life and a new name—Yukon, after a character in the cartoon movie "Rudolph," while keeping the nickname Con.

And thanks to donations, Yukon's ears have healed without the need for amputation.
