Part I: Female to Male Transgenders and Transsexuals
1. What is a Female to Male transgender or transsexual/ FTM/ transgender man/ transsexual man/ trans-man?
• Answer: Female to Male Transgenders and Transsexuals are male-identified individuals who were assigned female at birth.

2. Are trans-men also butch lesbians or stone butch lesbians?
• No. Trans-men are not butch lesbians or stone butch lesbians.

3. How can we differentiate lesbians and trans-men?
• Lesbians are female-identified individuals who are attracted to other female-identified individuals as well. Trans-men are male-identified individuals.
• Lesbian is a sexual orientation (who you attracted to) while Transgender or Transsexual is a gender identity (how you identify).

4. Can butch lesbians be considered as trans-men because they dress like the opposite sex?
• No. Butch lesbians cannot be considered as trans-men even if they dress and act like men. Butch lesbians present themselves as male but identify as female while Trans-men present themselves and identify as male.
• Cross-dressing is only a form of gender expression. Cross-dressing as the opposite sex does not mean you are already identifying as the opposite sex.

5. How do we become trans-men? What is the process of becoming a trans-man?
• One does not merely "become" a Trans-man. Being a transgender or transsexual man is not a process. It is a gender identity. It is how you identify. And, in this case, you identify as male.
• If you are talking about a process which Trans-men are involved with, it's called transition which shall be discussed in the next series of FAQ's.
