About this Battle of Hostomel Airport also known as Antonov Airport is the first Battle of 2022 Russian Attack on Ukraine. About new information for this Battle:

On the early hours of the beginning of the war, after President Putin read the statement "On conducting of Special Military Operation". A few minutes later Shock And Awe missile strike began on all Ukraine military targets and the strike neutralized the air defense target.

A few hours later Russian Airborne Troops (VDV) launched Air Assault from Belarus infiltration to Hostomel Airport, the Air Assault was conducted by Mi-8 Helicopter Transport carrying 200 VDV troops (some sources said 300) and this assault was provided cover by Ka-52, Mi-24, Mi-35 attack helicopter.

200 VDV troops landed on the airfield and set up control inside the airfield and set up perimeter defense, And VDV Troops engaged with Ukraine forces to try to retake the airfield with superior numbers and Ukraine failed to retake the airport. Russian VDV holds the airport in 1 day. And next day battle was over when an armored reinforcements element from the 155th Separate Marine Brigade (based unit in Kamchatka) rush from the Belarus border to reinforce the VDV troops inside the airfields.

Casualty by Russian VDV: 17 soldiers KIA
Few attack helicopters shoot down and disable during the assault and provide CAS for VDV troops on the ground.
Russian Forces control Hostomel Airport during the time the Kyiv front was active and withdraw at the end of March. Kyiv front was stopped and the Russian focus on Donbass and Eastern Front.
On March 28th President Putin's honorary 155th Separate Marine Brigade the Guards title unit. Could be rewarded for outstanding support for VDV troops on the airfields.
The unit name has changed to 155th Separate Guards Marine Brigade
