কবরস্থান ছিল দক্ষিণেশ্বর । Mysterious dakshineswar temple | History Of Dakshineswar | Rashmoni

The construction of this great temple began in 1847; Ended in 1855
The main temple is three storied. Its nine peaks are distributed over the top two floors. The temple faces south. The sanctum sanctorum is placed on a raised building. This building is 46 square feet wide and 100 feet high.
The 20-acre plot for the temple was purchased from an Englishman named John Hastie. The place was popularly known as Saheban Bagicha. A part of it was the Muslim cemetery of Kachhpak.
Hence the place is considered suitable for worshiping Shakti according to Tantra
This temple was built in eight years at a cost of nine lakh rupees.
Kalimurti known as Bhavatarini is installed on Shiva's chest. These idols are mounted on a silver lotus.
Near the main temple there are twelve similar looking shiva mandirs
These temples stand on both sides of a ghat of the Ganges
