A recap of the 77th J.S.O.C public campaign held towards the end of 2022. Campaign took place over 3 x missions played with over 60 people on every mission. Below are the phase breakdowns of the missions!
Phase 1.
With the Altian Parliamentary elections closing in, political tension on the island is at an all-time high, especially when considered in light of the conflict Altis has experienced over the past few years. While the island has benefitted from relative peace in recent months, not least assisted by the efforts of NATO forces, the police have obvious concerns for public safety and have subsequently heightened security in many public spaces and especially around electoral candidates for Parliament.
Such efforts have notably included a vast increase in funding for the state’s digital surveillance efforts, which had been seriously lacking, formerly relying on external states and multinational organisations. The recent passage of the Security and Defence Bill in the Altian Senate was certainly controversial as it gave the surveillance teams unprecedented access to a wealth of private data. However, while the technology is very much in its infancy, it has yielded some troubling results.
Police believe their efforts have uncovered a small terrorist sleeper cell on the island, but they fear they are not well enough equipped to sensitively and surgically deal with this potential threat. As a result, the people of Altis once again turn to the 77th J.S.O.C as they seek assistance in gathering more information. It is our task to investigate the threat based on leads developed through the police’s surveillance efforts. We are operating under the assumption that, should we identify a legitimate terrorist cell, they will be locally organised by a leader or recruiter. Mr Lazaros Ellinaki is our prime suspect, and will be known internally as ‘The Ace of Spades’.
Phase 2.
We have apprehended Lazaros Ellinaki, known to us as ‘the Ace of Spades’, who was instrumental in garnering support for what we now know is a anti-government terrorist cell on Altis. Despite our efforts, the extended network of the cell has been successful in staging an island-wide armed rebellion, focussed on causing havoc in densely populated civilian areas. Most notably, the cell has taken almost full control over Kavala and Pyrgos with hostages being held at Kavala City Hospital, whilst threatening further action including the kidnapping of high-profile electoral candidates.
We will be using the relative chaos presented by the coup as an opportunity to make a move on two further high-value targets, being Aleksei Zykov (‘the Three of Clubs’) and Etera Timoci (‘the Joker’). These individuals have been identified through intelligence gathered by Alpha and Charlie respectively. Their specific activity and locations are unknown at this time. We will also be following leads discovered by Bravo and Echo squads regarding server farms on the island, employing the help of a specialist Electronic Warfare Operator (EWO).
On a political front, the Speaker of the House of Representatives in the Altian Parliament, Sir Hector Torp, wishes to conduct business as usual. He has requested the assistance of the 77th J.S.O.C in providing security as he meets with church leaders across the state to address the need for humanitarian aid in the face of the conflict taking place. We will aim to facilitate his request as part of our tasking, and will bring in AAF Mechanised Commander [Cpt.] Kyros Kalogeros to assist us, hoping that such actions will help restore stability to the region.
Phase 3.
The raids of the various server farms, accompanied by our Electronic Warfare Operator, has led to the collection of a chain of emails between one Nikos Bouras (to be known as ‘the Jack of Hearts’) and Kaan Elmas (‘the King of Diamonds’). This is a troubling discovery given their backgrounds and current political standing. It is our belief that these individuals have been responsible for the financial and administrative organisation of the Altian cell respectively.
Squads will be tasked with locating and arresting Bouras and Elmas, on behalf of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, and collecting any relevant evidence to assist with their arrest and subsequent prosecution. This will be completed by raiding the known homesteads and offices owned by the respective targets, as well as any other businesses known to be affiliated with their work. Our two HVTs are under the protection of a privately employed paramilitary force, so getting close to them will not be easy.
