{translation under way} I found this wise though apparently lonely man while making a documentary on Thatta Kedona -- a doll-making enterprise that engages an entire village in Pakistan. I was wandering around the streets of this tiny village, and paid a visit to a man who grew vegetables (instead of grain-based crops) as an experiment. In his house, I found this wise guy who seemed to have great insights about what goodness truly means. It was apparent to me that he felt isolated from his community for his views and insight--a feeling that is confirmed in this particular bit of his conversation with me. The battery of my camera was failing, so I sometimes had to ask him to repeat himself as I struggled on to make the camera work a little longer by turning it off and then on again.
