Stitched on eyes

Описание к видео Stitched on eyes

The more amigurumi I made for little ones, I realized I really needed a fast, simple way to stitch on eyes that were safe AND looked cute. I finally came up with this way and I find I am using it instead of the plastic safety eyes on most of my crochet characters. For this example, I am making them on my Free Snowman Patterns available on my blog: thewhimz.com.
To make these eyes, use regular acrylic yarn (not crochet thread). I am using Mainstays Anti-pill acrylic yarn in black and Mainstays acrylic in white. You will also need a bent tip yarn needle.
Mark your amigurumi where your pattern says to insert safety eyes. You will be working in the stitch above and below it. Insert yarn through the top of the head and come out in the top stitch of one eye. Insert needle in the lower stitch and come back out the top. Be careful to not split your yarn with the needle and you will want to keep your stitches BESIDE each other. Do not cross of overlap your stitches. Each eye will have 3-4 stitches (whatever look you like). After completing the first eye, create the eye brow by coming out in the stitch to the side of the top of the eye. Insert the needle one row up and to the opposite side of the eye. Take your needle through the head (and the stuffing) and come out in the top stitch on the other side. Repeat. Come back out in the same hole you first inserted your needle into. Look at the face to make sure it looks ok. If not, make adjustments. Tie ends together in a double knot. Thread both ends into the needle and pull them through the head and come out in a different spot (it doesn't matter where). If one end is too short, insert the needle first, then thread the needle and proceed. Pull taut to pop that knot into the stuffing and trim. Squish and squeeze the head a bit to hid those ends.
Take your white yarn and insert into the top of the head. Come out in the top stitch of the eye, in the center of the black stitches. Insert needle into the middle stitch under the eye (the one you first marked) and take needle through the head to the other eye. Repeat and finish off like you did your eyes. Use the tip of your needle to pull your yarns to adjust tension.
