Our current way of addressing risks falls short in face of climate change, unplanned urbanization, and other risk drivers. Risk-informed development (RID) aims at preventing, mitigating, and preparing for risks, and focuses on understanding existing and future drivers of risk. This knowledge feeds into decision-making processes to inform development planning and investments. The Enabling Environment for risk-informed development (EE4RID) is defined as the conditions needed to ensure that risks can be integrated and considered in a wide range of development process and decision-making processes.
