As a highschool student, the hours and hours of homework, essays, projects, and assignments seem inevitable. Sleeping when the world begins to wake becomes the norm. And somehow, the mounting stress is viewed as a rite of passage. Our education system is meant to send us off with knowledge and the tools needed to thrive, but instead many leave with flawed minds due to the lack of care their mental health is given. In a world where society is beginning to realize the importance of mental health and how our current systems disregard it, StAMINA is a student led organization diligently working to help the youth of Kentucky and work to fix the flawed education system. We spoke to Will Powers, one of the senior directors of StAMINA to learn more about StAMINA’s mission, the work done in recent years, and their plans for the future.
