Описание к видео 2003-08-01-03 POTB Speeder trip parts 1-3 - Buxton - Tillamook - Buxton

The following (combined) 2 videos I shot on August 1st, 2003 as a passenger on my very first speeder trip. This was a very special three day event and I wanted to take the time to document it as best as I could. At the time I did not own a speeder, however this trip was the trip that made me decide this was a hobby for me as 3 months later I bought one! Little did I know that just a few years later, the line would be made impassible by a major washout. I am very glad I made this video and because of the washout I now record EVERY new piece of rail I travel on for historic purposes.

This video starts out at the set-on point in Buxton off Hwy 47 near Hwy 26 in Oregon on August 1, 2003. The speeders that were in the siding had to move east to clear the switch to allow for the eastbound freight to store the fire suppression tank car to be stored. After the drop off, the speeders returned to the siding where the seton continued. After the safety meeting we departed, started up the grade of the coast range mountains, then arrived at one of the many trestles for a quick break.

The trip continues to the end of the line at the Air museum at the Tillamook Blimp Hangar(s) where we turned and headed back to Buxton. Total round trip mileage was 151 miles.

I have re-uploaded this video providing higher quality and added a deshaking technique to stabilize the video. The combined details and comments of the first three videos are below.

gaycowboy31 said 1 year ago - I just bought one of these a while back I paid $900 for it I am not certin of the type but is off the N&W Rwy and does have a cab it has a large belt that drives it I am not sure it runs though its pretty wore out

moonwalker5058 said 1 year ago - The POTB was a really good railway, I wish they would rebuild it.

TheMrBlinx said 1 year ago - Why's everyone going backwards?

mrksvideos said 1 year ago - @TheMrBlinx The speeders set-on on the siding then backed onto the main, the four locomotives pulled into the siding to drop off the water car (sprays water on the tracks to prevent brake shoes from causing fires) then went back to the train (out of sight), the speeders then pulled back into the siding where the freight train continued eastbound past the set-on location.

TheMrBlinx said 1 year ago - @mrksvideos Thanks. Are speeders for rail personnel only, or can anyone get one? Surly they won't let just anyone run one. And, what about track? I'm sure they can't just get on any track they want (God help 'em if they encounter a train in a long tunnel!)

RyanSamuelBarry said 2 years ago - this is too cool!! but what is a speeder?!

gaycowboy31 said 1 year ago - @RyanSamuelBarry they were little 4 wheel motorcars with a small gas engine and usually a boxy body some were just open design used by track inspection crews in the old days to inspect track districts under there control nowdays its done with modern trucks that drive on the tracks but in the old days they used these small speeders to inspect the line for defects like loose track bolts and spikes and inspect for line damage such as downed treess and stuff like that
