Herr Roloff's Farwell - Scottish fiddle slow air on Piano accordion

"Herr Roloff's Farewell". Written by James Scott Skinner, "eminent violinist and composer" of Scottish Violin music. #COVIDceilidh
Played on Piano Accordion.
I first heard this tune played by Aly Bain and Phil Cunningham. I thought it was beautiful. Skinner was from Banchory and became a victorian "pop star" of his day on the fiddle. Personal musician to Queen Victoria and a great self-publicist. He called himself "The Strathspey King". He is buried in Allenvale Cemetry in Aberdeen. His grave features a bust of himself, a few bars of the music of one of his most famous tunes, "The Boonie Lass o' Bon-Accord" and along the base is written -

The Strathspey King
Born at Banchory 15th August 1843 - Died at Aberdeen 17th March 1927
The Greatest Violin Exponent & Composer of Scottish National Music,
Erected by his many friends and admirers.

Herr Adolf L. Roloff was a musical friend of Skinner and it is said he composed this in memory of Roloff when he was forced to return to Germany as the first world war unfolded.
