A group of thrill-seekers decided to go shark cage diving off the coast of Gansbaai, South Africa, known as the “Great White Shark Capital of the World.” While underwater, a 15-foot great white shark rammed the cage with such force that one of the bars bent, creating a small opening. The shark managed to get its head partially inside, snapping its jaws inches away from the divers. The boat crew pulled the cage up just in time, and the divers escaped with only minor injuries from the sharp edges of the cage. The incident led to debates about the safety of shark cage diving, with some calling for stricter regulations.
