Dr Roy Davies - ARG LAB 24: Converging Technologies

The world of emerging technologies can be overwhelming, with so many advancements to keep up with, such as virtual reality, artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, and blockchain.

It’s crucial to stay informed so you don’t get left behind.

Recently, we have seen a convergence of technologies where boundaries are blurred. For instance, IoT devices can be controlled remotely using a mobile phone, and the produced data can be analysed by AI and presented in a metaverse for decision-making.

In this online session, we’ll discuss some interesting converged technologies and useful tools and provide an opportunity to chat with a multi-full-stack developer actively creating these converged opportunities.

ABOUT DR ROY DAVIES
Dr Roy Davies is an international pioneer of virtual, augmented, and mixed reality, which began in the late 1990s in Sweden, with applications for brain injury rehabilitation and participatory design. He is a multi-full-stack developer specialising in agent-based architectures that support human participation and geospatial intelligence. As an advisor, Roy is the technologist who helps you grow your confidence and competence in technologies and can help you decide on the most appropriate business methodologies or human-centred design techniques. At the University of Auckland, he is the Smart Digital Lab’s Senior Technician and an Advisor for Master’s students at AcademyEx. He is also a director of his own company Imersia.

Roy has been a valued partner of the Awhi Incubator programme, contributing in many ways, including a fascinating talk on emerging technologies to our 2023 ARG symposium.
